FAQs

  • What is Uwila Wellness?

Uwila Wellness is an integrative body restoration practice in Kamloops, BC. Care is organized into pathways — Nervous System & Resilience, Body Alignment & Digestion, Women's Health, Face & Jaw, and Postpartum Care — rather than a menu of unrelated treatments, because the body doesn't experience itself in separate parts.

  • How do I know which session is right for me?

You don't need to know before you arrive — that's the practitioner's job, not yours. Visit the Start Here page and choose what you're experiencing right now; it will point you to the right pathway and service.

  • Do you offer virtual sessions?

Some sessions, including parts of the Somatic Mentorship container, are available virtually. Hands-on bodywork — craniosacral therapy, abdominal therapy, facial work, and Womb Continuum Care — is offered in person at the Kamloops studio.

  • What should I wear, and how should I prepare?

Comfortable clothing is best for most sessions; you'll remain fully clothed for craniosacral therapy. Drinking water beforehand and arriving a few minutes early to settle is helpful. Specific preparation notes are shared when you book.

  • What is Holistic Pelvic(R) Care?

Holistic Pelvic Care® is a gentle internal and external treatment to bring balance, awareness, and energetic healing to the pelvic bowl. It’s ideal for women seeking support around birth, trauma, chronic pain, energetic disconnection, or reproductive health. This body of work is trauma-informed and rooted in consent, sacredness, and deep reverence.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

A non-refundable deposit is collected at the time of booking, this is applied to your appointment if you need to reschedule.
Cancellations need to be done within 24 hours of your appointment.

  • Do you provide receipts for extended health or insurance coverage?

No — sessions at Uwila Wellness are not currently eligible for direct billing or receipts for extended health insurance.

  • Where are sessions held? Do you offer virtual appointments?

In-person sessions are held at the studio at 760 Seymour St, Kamloops, BC. Postpartum Care Continuum visits take place in your home within Kamloops city limits.

  • Do you offer packages or discounts?

Yes! I offer seasonal promotions, introductory session bundles, and early bird pricing for group offerings. Be sure to check the Offerings page or follow @uwilawellness on Instagram for the latest specials and ways to save.

  • What does “Uwila” mean?

Uwila is a sacred name that reflects the spirit of this work: it means “owl” in German—symbol of feminine wisdom—and “lightning” in Hawaiian, evoking transformation, awakening, and divine connection. It reflects the spirit of this work: a return to the intelligence your body already carries

  • What does a craniosacral session feel like?

Most people experience a deep sense of calm, grounding, and internal spaciousness — warmth, soft waves of release, or a feeling of things settling internally. Many enter a deeply relaxed, meditative state.

  • Is this work trauma-informed?

Yes. This work doesn't analyze or rehash trauma stories. It creates the conditions for the body to feel safe enough to let go at its own pace. You're always in control, and the session follows your body's cues.

  • How many sessions will I need?

Some people feel noticeable shifts after one session; others benefit from a short series to support deeper regulation. We can discuss a rhythm that feels supportive rather than forceful. Most clients come in weekly or bi-weekly when working on a present issue or monthly for maintenance.

  • Will abdominal therapy be painful?

Possibly. Pressure is attuned to what your body can integrate — firm enough to create change, but slow & intentional

  • Can this help with bloating that isn't tied to a diagnosis?

Yes. Much of the digestive tension people carry has no single diagnosis behind it — it's often the body holding stress in the gut. This work supports the nervous system and the tissue together.

  • How long is a Womb Continuum Session & how many should I book?

Sessions commonly range from 60 to 120 minutes. The number recommended varies by your needs and goals — most people benefit from multiple visits to support unfolding change in the body.
For those working on persistent and present issues, once a week is a good rhythm. For those looking for overall health, once a month tends to be beneficial.

  • Is this a massage or a medical treatment?

Womb Continuum Care is therapeutic bodywork, not a medical procedure or traditional massage. It's not a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment, but it can complement healthcare.

  • Can I receive this care while trying to conceive, or after pregnancy loss or surgery?

Yes. Sessions can support preconception, and can support healing after miscarriage, abortion, pregnancy loss, or surgical procedures such as C-section or hysterectomy, with sensitivity and consent.

  • Is Somatic Fascial Release the same as a spa facial?

No. This is manual neurosomatic therapy that works through the face as a portal into the nervous system, not a cosmetic treatment — though many people notice their face looks more open and de-puffed as a result.

  • For a natural face lift, how often should I come in?

For best results, weekly for six weeks, then gradually spacing out to every two, three, and eventually four to six weeks. Packages are available.

  • When should I apply for Postpartum Care?

Ideally during pregnancy, since care begins with a prenatal preparation session. Reach out as early as you can to make sure a spot is held for your due date.

  • Is Postpartum Care available outside of Kamloops?

In-home sessions are included within Kamloops city limits. Locations outside Kamloops may incur an additional travel fee.
